A few papers have come out recently* on or around the topic of historical sea-surface temperatures. Each of them tackles an important aspect of the problem of estimating the size and evolution of systematic errors in SST data. A handy guide to the many aspects of this problem was also published recently. It’s interesting to look at them together and see what they say**.
