January 2015 was warmer than average¹ across South America, the northwest of North America and large areas of Eurasia, including China where it was the warmest January on record. Colder than average conditions were observed across the northern half of Africa, Mexico and the eastern side of the US and Canada. The Iberian Peninsula, India, parts of Australia and an area on the north coast of Russia were colder than average. map
